Secretary’s report. As we have no secretary there is no report.
Treasurers report. As per balance sheet which was accepted.
Acting chairman’s report. One never knows what’s around the corner. The one thing we do know is Belford show must go on. It is the longest standing function in the village, and we have all worked hard to maintain a certain standard. To report on our last show obviously has very mixed emotions. To lose our chairman was extremely sad leaving us with the question”what do we do now”? I know his decision would have been the same as ours. The show goes on. And so it did!
With wonderful sunshine and excellent support which included drama from the Belford players we had an excellent day. There was however one complaint – not enough help at the end of the show which will be noted. There are many thanks to give – especially the committee and of course we recruited our former secretary of many years Peter Brown to look after us on the big day.
With him and Eric and Kevan printing schedules and numbers and all your help we got there. My personal thanks to Carol who took charge of the kitchen whilst I and my leg allowed us to have a new door lady. Standard of work was good and an enormous entry from children. An extra thank you to those who displayed childrens work and Kevan for judging it. Both headteachers I’m pleased to say are taking great interest in the show and are going to review the entries and make their changes. With Sandra, Mark, Peter and Lord Walton our President the day was rounded off with the presentations etc. My one regret is to win the best potato section, a bit embarrassing. A few ounces of potatoes – not even worth a mention, winning a cup provided by Hugh Adair, and being the only entry as no potatoes had been sold in the Hobby horse. One area to readjust. I hope you agree a great success. Thanks to you all. Roll on 2010.
Carol to do a Bric-a-brac and cake stall on showday to raise funds.
Trophies to be handed in at The Hobby Horse one month before showday to get engraved, and to ask for trophies straight after showday.
