The Belford and District Local History Society’s first meeting was held in the gallery of St Mary’s church on the 7th January 1970.

The objective of the society is to research and discuss the history in and around the Village of Belford and in the wider Northumberland Area.

The Society has produced and assisted in publishing a number of books which can be bought from local shops. Information leaflets about the village are also produced for visitors to the area.

BDLHS have monthly meetings held at Bell View Resource Centre at 33 West Street commencing at 7-30pm normally on the 4th Wednesday in the month, this can vary, so please check notice boards and web-site. The Society meet each month with the exception of August; the year starts with the AGM each September. There is always a speaker invited to the indoor meetings to give an interesting talk. In December we have our Christmas Party for members and in June and July we have visits to places of historic interest.

We are always looking for new members and we welcome visitors to our meetings.

Membership is £10 per year and visitors pay £2 each visit.
