As a former coaching town, Belford has a pedigree for welcoming travellers.

This thriving and friendly community boasts a collection of independent shops to browse as well as inns and restaurants to visit.

Set out on a walk to St Cuthbert’s Cave, just a few miles from Belford. The highlight of this circular walk is the cave itself, where Lindisfarne monks reputedly brought St Cuthbert’s body in AD875 following Viking raids on Holy Island. Grab your binoculars and head to nearby Waren Mill and Budle Bay to watch thousands of waders and wildfowl on the tidal lagoon.

Jump on the bus and make for a short hop to the coastal villages of Bamburgh, Seahouses and Beadnell. Belford is midway between the coast and breathtaking wilderness of the Northumberland National Park affording the perfect exploring base.
