Belford WI was formed in 1932, and this year celebrates its 90th birthday.

The Northumberland Federation of Woman Institutes were formed in 1918. Their aim was to revitalise rural communities and encourage women to become more involved in producing food during the first World War. Since then the organisation has broadened and the WI is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK.

Belford WI meets on the 2nd Monday of every month 6:30pm at Bell View. We have a guest speaker followed by tea, coffee, cakesand chat. Our March meeting was an outing to Howick Hall to see the snow drops and Aprils meeting a fantastic demonstration on silk scarves. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

Belford WI is regularly invited to other local WI's to share in celebrations, Quiz's and events, both locally and those events organised by NFWI.
